CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s School of Music will host CU alumnus Rodrigo Vasconcelos in a recital Thursday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

Vasconcelos will be performing works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Prokofiev. The public is invited to the free concert.
On Friday, Oct. 25, Vasconcelos will present a masterclass with piano students of Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music, and Dr. Bill Budai, associate professor of piano. The masterclass will be from 10 a.m. until noon in The Gheens Recital Hall, and the following students will be playing: Samson Tarpeh of Liberia; Ziyu Zhou of China; Maria Milagros Boso Galli of Argentina, Hsin-I Guo of Taiwan and Hsing-Yi Tsai of Taiwan. The public is also invited to come listen during the masterclass.
Vasconcelos received a master of arts in music from CU in 2004 and a bachelor of music in piano performance from the Universidade do Rio De Janeiro in 2001.
A founding teacher of the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program, Vasconcelos is a member of the piano and musicology faculty of Indian Springs Academy of Music, and is a music educator for Our Lady of Visitation School, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Vasconcelos is a former member of Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and holds silver medals from the Art Livre National Piano Competition and the Araçatuba National Piano Competition, both in Brazil.
From 2004 to 2007, Vasconcelos taught class piano and understanding music for Campbellsville University, conducted the university’s Concert Choir and collaborated with numerous graduate and undergraduate students.
Vasconcelos’ said his most influential piano professors include Dr. Wesley Roberts, Dr. Alan Hersh, Mrs. Linda Bustani and Mrs. Estela Caldi.
