Department of Human Performance Minors

Aquatic Management

The 21 credit hour Aquatics Management Minor certifies students in a variety of national instructor and basic certifications through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the United States Water Fitness Association.

Recreation

The Recreation Minor covers information for those interested in combining a ministry in recreation with the chosen major. Courses in business, recreation, and first aid and CPR make up the minor.

Athletic Coaching

This minor incorporates management and coaching in the curriculum. Students will be exposed to Christian Coaching, Psychology and Sociology of Sport, and may choose three areas of sport concentration.

Sports Management

This minor will provide students interested in a career in sport management with a solid foundation in the field. Areas of study include; Marketing, Sport Finance, Sport Facility Management and an internship is required.

Minors can be taken by any major however, they can be especially useful to those majoring in Physical Education with non-teaching rights. These minors can help students develop skills, knowledge, and abilities in areas of specific interest within the discipline. Consultation with an academic advisor in the department is recommended in order to choose a minor which is best suited to accomplish specific career goals.
