Southwest Academy (SWA) is a special education school for kindergarten through 12th grade students in the West Valley who are challenged by social-emotional, learning, and behavioral difficulties. The curriculum is taught with an engaged learning methodology that nurtures academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. Our educational model encourages the development of academic and social-emotional skills in a positive and well-structured learning environment, with a focus on preparation for postsecondary education, employment, and citizenship.
Southwest Academy is seeking a highly effective leader to drive change by working alongside staff and students to improve academic and behavioral achievement and support the overall learning environment. The successful candidate will be expected to support SWA’s school-wide initiatives that focus on teacher development, implementation of PBIS, and the transition to the Common Core Standards.
This addition to our leadership team, would work in collaboration with the Program Director to support the daily responsibilities of the program and assist with the supervision and outcomes of all aspects of programming. The position requires the ability to build high performing teams that work within the program model, provide professional development and effectively supervise staff in order to improve student learning and academic achievement. This position requires excellent communication to build and maintain positive relationships with parents, districts, and community on a regular basis. This position requires knowledge of students with disabilities and the ability to take the lead in crisis situations.
The selected candidate would be able collaborate on the development of school plans and procedures for instruction, students social/emotional needs, safety, building procedures, and other building needs.
The position would receive ongoing training on the organizations program model. SWA is a fast pace environment that values collaboration, innovation, and teamwork where the best interest of our students always comes first.
Valid General Administration or School Psychologist Certification (preferred). SWA would consider a candidate with SPED teaching certification and strong leadership experience.

Ability to learn quickly and to be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team focused environment
This position offers access to medical, dental, vision plans, 403(b), sick pay, holiday pay, and personal/vacation days. The salary range is competitive and depends on certification and qualifications.
