We currently have an excellent opportunity for an Analyst Programmer-Mainframe in the IT/Life Administration Systems Department. The incumbent will work under close direction as part of a project team on defined problems. Performs analytical functions with direction and performs programming functions independently. Assists in analyzing systems requirements for proposed or revised systems to meet user needs. Prepares program specifications and documentation, codes, tests and debugs programs.
This position reports administratively to an appropriate officer or manager, but may be responsible to a Senior Systems Analyst or Systems Analyst for project specific assignments. The work of this position is heavily concentrated in the programming stage of the System Development Life Cycle, with an expectation of increasing emphasis in detail design and analysis. This position reports to the Manager, Policy Administration Systems.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Professional qualifications or equivalent training/education in information systems as
evidenced by a Bachelor’s degree or its business equivalent.
Mainframe programming using COBOL, PL/1, DB/2, VSAM, IMS, CICS is required.
Understanding of Information Systems infrastructure & strategy, Systems Analysis & Design,
Testing & Debugging Skills, Documenting, Business Knowledge, Systems Knowledge, Communication Skills, and Diagnostic & Troubleshooting Skills are required.
Understanding of Individual Life, Disability and Annuity Insurance Products is preferred.
Experience with Vantage Administration Systems (Vantage One or Wealth Management Accelerator) is preferred.
