Students in their junior years may make application for the Stan and Joan Cottongim McKinney Mass Communication Scholarship.

A letter of application should include career goals, courses taken and a general statement about why the applicant seeks a career in mass communication.

First priority is given to a journalism student, since Stan McKinney and Joan McKinney, the donors of the scholarship, both worked for many years in the newspaper business. Second priority is given to public relations students.

Stan McKinney began the public relations program at Campbellsville University. Joan McKinney has worked in public relations at the university for many years.

Third priority is given to a cinema/television major.

A committee consisting of the McKinneys and other members of the mass communication staff will review the applications and determine the recipient. A student's financial need will also be considered in determining who would most benefit from the scholarship.

The letter of application, consisting of no more than two pages, should be sent to Stan McKinney by April 1 of each year.
