Perry Thomas, Head Coach
CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL COACH PERRY THOMAS ANNOUNCES COACHING STAFF
Campbellsville, KY - New Campbellsville University Head Football Coach Perry Thomas announced his choices for his coaching staff this afternoon.
“I think we’ve put together a solid staff that brings both college and high school experience to the table,” said Thomas. “These guys have great contacts throughout Kentucky and other states that will bring us outstanding players,” he added.
Besides being Head Coach, Thomas will also serve as the Defensive Coordinator of the Tigers.
Thomas has retained four coaches and has hired four new assistants.
The new faces on the football coaching staff are:
Ron Barnard, Assistant Head Coach. Barnard was Thomas’ assistant coach at Paducah Tilghman High School for the past six seasons. He played at Murray State University in the early 1990’s and is a former coach at Graves County High School. He will be the Special Teams Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach for the Tigers.
Chris Pardue, Offensive Coordinator. Pardue has been the Head Coach at Boyle County (KY) High School for the past three seasons and was the Offensive Coordinator for the Rebels during their unprecedented five straight Kentucky State Championships. He has been at Boyle County for fifteen seasons and also coached for eight years at Allen-County Scottsville (KY) High School and is a former Graduate Assistant at Murray State University.
Timmy Rogers, Recruiting Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. Rogers, a Campbellsville graduate, returns to head up the Tiger recruiting efforts after spending the past two seasons coaching Defensive Ends and Linebackers at Carson-Newman (TN) College. He coached Defensive Backs at Union College in 2003-04 and was also part of the Boyle County staff that won five straight Kentucky State Championships. He graduated from Campbellsville University in 1997 and was an All-American for the Tigers at the Middle Linebacker position.
Joe Stockton, Assistant Recruiting Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. Stockton, a former All-American at Western Kentucky University, comes to Campbellsville after two seasons at Susquehanna (PA) University where he has coached Split Ends. He also has coaching experience at North Hardin (KY) High School. From his WKU playing career, Stockton still holds the NCAA Division I-AA record for all-purpose yards in a game with 467 as well as the school single-game record for receiving yards with 276. A three-time Division I-AA All-American, he is also the Hilltoppers' career leader in kick return (2,302) and all-purpose (5,280) yards.
Returning coaches and their responsibilities are:
Jim Hardy, Eligibility/Equipment Coordinator and Running Backs Coach. Hardy is no stranger to Tiger Football having been on the staff for the past five seasons. He has also spent 18 years with the Campbellsville High School football program having served as a position coach, Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach. He will become a full-time coaching staff member in the near future.
Kenneth Burress, Speed/Strength Coach and Defensive Backs. Burress will be in his second season on the Tiger staff has extensive playing experience at the collegiate and professional levels. After a stand-out career at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, Burress signed a free agent contract with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. He went on to have a six-year professional career, highlighted by an Eastern Conference championship with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. Burress also spent two seasons with the British Columbia Lions and one as a member of the Toronto Argonauts.
David Payne – Defensive Line Coach. Payne will be in his tenth season on the Tiger staff in 2008. Before coming to Campbellsville University, Coach Payne served several years on the coaching staffs of Larue County High School and Campbellsville High School. Payne’s coaching career started at Western Kentucky University, where he was a graduate assistant for legendary Head Coach Jimmy Feix.
Ricky Gehres – Wide Receivers Coach. Gehres will be in his third season with the Tigers after a stellar playing career. Gehres, a 2005 alumnus, is the all time leader in pass reception yardage with 2467 yards and is statistically ranked among the leaders in most receiving categories for Campbellsville.
