FORMER SOMERSET HIGH SCHOOL STAND OUT ROSS DEATON BECOMES FIRST FOOTBALL SIGNEE FOR PERRY THOMAS AT CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY
Campbellsville, Kentucky – Former Somerset High School quarterback Ross Deaton has become the first recruit for new Head Football Coach Perry Thomas at Campbellsville University.
Deaton signed with the Tigers in a ceremony this morning and brings along with him some impressive credentials. During the 2006 season at Somerset High School, he threw for 3,726 yards and 43 touchdowns. Deaton completed 203 of 357 pass attempts during his senior year and had only 11 interceptions.
During his two year playing career for the Briar Jumpers, Deaton threw for 5,901 yards and ranks 48th in the Kentucky High School Football record book for Career Passing Yards. During his senior campaign the 3,726 passing yards stands as the 14th most in a season in Kentucky High School Football records.
He attended a community college in Georgia last year and comes to Campbellsville with four seasons of eligibility.
Deaton is the son of Campbellsville High School principal Mike Deaton who graduated from Green County High School and was a quarterback at the University of Kentucky. His Grandfather is Carl Deaton, who was the long time basketball coach at Green County High School. |
