LADY TIGER BASKETBALL SPLITS TWO GAMES AT BUFFALO WILD WINGS/WENDY’S CLASSIC AT SHAWNEE STATE
Portsmouth, Ohio - The Campbellsville Lady Tiger basketball team lost to the University of St. Francis (IN) 85-74 in overtime on Friday night and then defeated Notre Dame College (OH) today 94-58 in the Buffalo Wild Wings/Wendy’s Classic played at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
On Friday, Campbellsville dropped its third overtime game of the season in the eleven point setback to St. Francis. The Lady Tigers fell behind 34-20 at halftime and trailed 61-49 with 7:43 left in the game. From there, Campbellsville would outscore St. Francis 20-8 to force its third overtime game of the year. Campbellsville took its first lead of the game when Priscila Alves (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) hit a three-pointer to give the Lady Tigers a 72-69 lead. The Lady Tiger lead would be short lived though as St. Franics 14-0 run over the next 4:17 to seal the win and drop Campbellsville to 8-6 on the year.
Courtney Danis (FR/Mt. Sterling, KY) led all scorers with 26 points while Alves added 22 points in the loss.
On Saturday afternoon the Lady Tigers dominated Notre Dame College 94-58. Behind 6 of 11 shooting from the three point line in the first half, Campbellsville built a 47-25 halftime lead. Campbellsville would shoot 8 of 16 from the three point line for the game and grabbed a total of 60 rebounds as they improved to 9-6 overall.
Six players scored in double figures for the Lady Tigers led by Alexia Williams (FR/Campbellsville, KY) with 16, Courtney Danis (FR/Mt. Sterling, KY) and Wendi Messer (FR/Barbourville, KY) both with 13, Juliana Brown (JR/Nashville, TN) had 12, Melly Heaton (FR/Princeton, KY) 11 and Kristi Ensminger (SO/Kingston Springs, TN)) with 10 points.
Campbellsville hosts Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, January 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the first game of a double-header with the Tiger men’s team.
