CAMPBELLSVILLE’S ZACH ALLENDER RE-INJURES KNEE IN 94-67 EXHIBITION LOSS AT NCAA DIVISION I WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
Bowling Green, KY - The Campbellsville University Tiger men’s basketball team may have lost more than just an exhibition game in a 94-67 setback tonight at Western Kentucky University.
Pre-season All American Zach Allender (SR/Bardstown, KY) re-inured his right knee just :32 seconds into the game and could be lost for the season. “We just don’t know yet,” said C.U. Head Coach Keith Adkins after the game. “We’ll get him seen by our Orthopedic Surgeon tomorrow and hope for the best, but if it’s what we’re thinking it is he is probably done for the season. There’s never a good thing about a student-athlete getting injured, but Zach does have a medical redshirt year remaining and if he is out the rest of this season would be able to return next year,” stated Adkins.
Western scored the first eleven points of the game and never looked back in coasting to the win. Nestor Colmenares (JR/Caracas, Venezuela) led the Tigers with 17 points while Kyle Martin (JR/Elizabethtown, KY) was 6 of 6 from the floor for 12 points in the game.
Campbellsville turned the ball over 30 times in the game. “Other than our upcoming exhibition next week against Arkansas, we won’t face a defense as tough as this all season,” said Adkins after the game. “Playing tough games early, especially these exhibitions against NCAA teams will, I hope, improve our team once we start heading into conference and post-season play,” concluded Adkins.
The Tigers open the regular season on the road at Union University on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
