TIGERS SUFFER 86-79 OVERTIME LOSS AT HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY
Huntington, Indiana – The Campbellsville University Tigers lost their second game of the season today in the Championship of the Ness Brothers Hall of Fame Classic to the host team, Huntington University, 86-79 in overtime.
The two teams battled throughout the game and with 4.6 seconds remaining in regulation, the Tigers found themselves down 63-62. Campbellsville’s Nestor Colmenares (JR/Caracas, Venezuela) was fouled and tied the game on his first free throw, but missed the potential game winner and forced overtime.
In the overtime period, Huntington raced out to a 78-67 lead with just 50 seconds remaining. But the Tigers fought back behind some sharp shooting by Troy Harris (JR/Georgetown, KY) and cut the lead to a 78-74 margin with 34 seconds to play. Huntington would go 8 of 8 from the free throw line over the final 34 seconds to preserve the win.
Harris led the Tigers with a game high 24 points while Marcus Nicks (JR/Ellicott City, MD) added 17 points. Bubba Long (SR/Owensboro, KY) had 15 points and Kyle Martin (JR/Elizabethtown, KY) scored 10 points in the loss.
Campbellsville drops to 3-2 and will play in the Pikeville College Thanksgiving Classic on Tuesday and Wednesday against Cincinnati Christian University and Ohio Christian College.
