TIGERS TAMED BY RAZORBACKS 96-56
Fayetteville, Arkansas - The Campbellsville University Men’s Basketball team stepped into big time college basketball tonight by taking on the NCAA’s 19th ranked team, the University of Arkansas Razorbacks in Bud Walton Arena.
Campbellsville jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Marcus Nicks (JR/Ellicott City, MD) three-pointer, but the Razorbacks would score twelve unanswered points and go on a 30-6 run to put the game out of reach mid-way through the first half. The Tigers were held scoreless for nearly ten minutes after Nicks hit the opening three pointer.
Nicks would lead Campbellsville with 23 points and was the only Tiger to reach double figures.
The Tigers were forced into 29 turnovers against a very sticky Arkansas pressure defense. “Just like after our game at Western Kentucky, we know that we won’t face this level of defense again this season,” said Campbellsville Head Coach Keith Adkins. “This is the 19th ranked team in all of college basketball on the highest level and their defense was just stifling,” he added. “It was a great experience for our guys to get to play on this level, in this setting and I think down the road it will only benefit us,” he added.
Campbellsville is 0-1 on the season after dropping the opening regular season game at Union University on Saturday. The Tigers will seek to even their record on Friday against Wayland Baptist in the Lindsey Wilson College Classic.
