TIGER MEN’S GOLF TAKES THIRD IN CHICK-FIL-A- COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL HOSTED BY BERRY COLLEGE
Rome, Georgia - The Campbellsville University Men’s Golf team trimmed twelve strokes off their first round score to finish in third place today among the 28 teams at the prestigious Chick-fil-A Invitational at Coosa Country Club in Rome, Georgia.
Campbellsville shot an opening round of 302, which put the team in a tie for 9th in the field after the first day of the event. But today, the Tigers shot a 290 which moved them into third place overall, just six strokes behind the NAIA’s 2nd rated Berry College Vikings. The NAIA’s 2nd rated team, Oklahoma Christian shot a 559 to win the event.
Campbellsville was led by Jeff Sullivan’s two-day total of 145 that tied him for 9th in the overall standings. Casey Young shot 147 (16th) and Scott Webb tallied a 149 (23rd) to lead the Tigers in the tournament.
The Tigers defeated several nationally ranked teams from the NAIA including 8th ranked Lindenwood, 17th ranked Mobile, 26th ranked Southwestern, 14th ranked Lee, 23rd ranked Shorter and 21st ranked Savannah College of Art and Design, and 18th ranked LaGrange College from NCAA Division III.
