Sioux City, Iowa.- The Campbellsville University wrestling team finished up the 2005/06 season with a 14th place showing at the NAIA National Tournament.

The Tigers of Campbellsville qualified the maximum of 12 wrestlers for the tournament and had 7 wrestlers reach the All-American round.

Kaci Payne at 133, Kyle Norred and Jairus Murton at 141 and Billy James at 149 all came within one match of reaching All-American status.

The Tigers had 3 wrestlers earn All-American honors. David Clemens at 157, Chris Seta at 149 and Glen Jackson at 197 all finished in the top 8 and became the 2nd,3rd and 4th All-Americans in Campbellsville University wrestling History.

Chris Seta found himself on the tough side of the bracket in the toughest weight class at the National Tournament. A weight class that featured 5 former National finalist. Seta defeated the # 3 ranked Brad Stockton of Waldorf in the quarter final round and then faced the # 2 ranked Haukenberry from DANA college. Seta lost th semi final to Hauckenberry on a stalling call 2-1. He then dropped to the consolation and wrestled # 1 ranked Darren Cotton and lost a close 5-3 match. Seta then won and advanced to the 5th and 6th place match to wrestle former National Finalist Jason Lozier. Seta was able to beat Lozier for 5th place. Freshman David Clemens had an unbelievable performance considering the fact that he wrestled the whole tournament with seperated ribs.

Even though Clemens was hurt he was able to wrestle himself into 7th place and put himself in a position to be a 4x All-American at CU. Another Freshman, Glen Jackson went into the National tournament and wrestled very well. So well that he was able to gain 6th place and his first All-American honor. Glen has also put himself in position to be a 4X All-American at CU.

The program moved from 21st place and 1 All-American in the first year of the program to 14th place with 3 All-Americans this year. The Tigers plan to make an even bigger jump in 2006/07. CU will return 3 All-Americans and 11 National Qualfiers for the 2006/07 season and most likely start the year ranked in the top 10.  For complete results click on the link below.
