Congratulations to the Pavys!

Congratulations to E.J. and AnnaMarie Pavy, who are the parents of their first child, a daughter, Avery Olivia Pavy, who was born Nov. 30 at Springview Hospital in Lebanon, Ky.

She weighed 8 pounds, 1 3/4 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Avery Olivia is also the granddaughter of Ed Pavy, director of campus ministries at CU, and his wife Kathy, a CU alumna.

Psi Chi to collect items to send overseas

Psi Chi, the psychology honors club on campus, will be hosting a drive to collect items to send to our troops overseas. Many troops are experiencing some hard times right now, and we want to show our support and share Christ's love with them, especially during the Christmas season. To do so, we will be collecting items (list below) to send with a CU alumnus who is a contractor with a brigade in Afghanistan. The drive will begin Wednesday, December 4, and end on Friday, December 13.

Items needed:
- hand warmers
- soaps
- shampoos
- conditioners
- lotions
- baby wipes
- foot powder
- deodorant
- Q-tips
- card games
- pens/pencils
- magazines
- books (crossword puzzles, sudoku, etc)
- hard candy
- easy-to-open non-perishable foods (beenie weenies)
- blankets
- heated blankets
- twin size bed sheets
(More items can be found online, but these are the main ones.)

Please drop off items in the donation box outside Dr. Rogers's office (DH 226) beginning tomorrow. We appreciate your help and support in spreading the joy of Christmas with our troops. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Craig Rogers ( or Cole Torbert (
