The Campbellsville University Percussion Ensemble was founded in 1995 under the direction of Mr. David A. Johnson. The ensemble continued to experience growth and success under the direction of Dr. Marty Sharer in 2001 and Mr. Chad Floyd in 2006. The ensemble has grown to an average of 15-20 members, more than doubling in size since its inception. In addition, the best professional instruments and equipment continue to be provided for members of the percussion ensemble as well as other CU instrumental ensembles.
This ensemble provides the opportunity for students to perform both traditional and contemporary works written for percussion ensemble. Music from other cultures around the world is also explored including those from Brazil, Cuba, and Africa. Typical instrumentation per piece is 5 to 12 players.
