The Campbellsville University Steel Band was founded in the fall of 2008. This group has quickly become a popular ensemble both on campus and in the community. Global in purpose, the steel band embraces diversity found in all cultures throughout the world while exploring all facets of world percussion.
The CU Steel Band regularly performs for various schools with their educational program "Drums From Around The World". This highly interactive presentation showcases the use of percussion instruments from around the globe allowing audience members to observe how differing societies utilize the primitive forms of percussion. The elements of music that are included in Kentucky's Core Content are intergraded into the program to help reinforce these important concepts to students through several forms of student participation. In addition, the steel band also performs at other various events, both on and off campus.
