The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service has County Extension Agent positions available in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, and 4-H/Youth Development. County Extension Agents involve local citizens in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that meet the needs of the county they serve. All agents share the responsibilities for rural and economic development programming. Agents ensure that all youth and adults have an equal opportunity to participate in Extension programs.
County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources
This position provides leadership for educational programs in agriculture and natural resources and requires broad technical knowledge of subjects related to the agricultural resources of the county. In cooperation with Extension Specialists, Agriculture Agents develop field trials, test demonstrations and result demonstrations in areas related to agricultural production and natural resources. Minimum requirement of a BS or MS degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or closely related field.
County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences
This position provides leadership for educational programs in family and consumer sciences. The position requires a broad technical knowledge of subjects such as nutrition, child and family well-being and management. Family and Consumer Science Agents provide programs which foster individual development such as Extension Homemakers, Master Volunteers, and programs for limited resource audiences. Minimum requirement of a BS or MS degree in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences such as Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Family Studies, Dietetics/Nutrition or a closely related field.
County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development
This position provides leadership and management to the overall county 4-H youth development program. The program will include a wide range of opportunities designed to foster positive youth development. The agent will work directly with youth and will recruit and train volunteer leaders to work with youth. Minimum requirement of a BS or MS degree in Education, Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Social Science, or similar field of study.
County Extension Agent for Horticulture
This position provides leadership for educational programs in home and commercial horticulture and requires broad technical knowledge of subjects related to the horticultural needs of the county. In cooperation with Extension Specialists, Horticulture Agents develop field trials, test demonstrations and result demonstrations in areas related to horticultural production. Minimum requirement of a BS or MS degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or closely related field.
