WHAT TO BRING:
Your own mallets and/or sticks. We will provide all other equipment.
WHO NEEDS TO AUDITION:
Any new applicant to the Tiger Marching Band who is interested in playing in the battery or sideline percussion sections.
WHAT TO PREPARE FOR BATTERY AUDITIONS:
You need to learn the drumline audition music for each instrument on which you would like to audition. If you are unable to download and print that music, please contact us at the phone number or e-mail listed above and we will send you a copy through the mail. There may also be some sight-reading or short exercises taught on the spot.
WHAT TO PREPARE FOR SIDELINE/FRONT ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS:
Prepare a one minute (or so) etude or solo of your choice that best displays your mallet skills. You should also be ready to play all major scales, up to 4 flats and 3 sharps, 2 octaves. There may also be some sight-reading or short exercises taught on the spot.
The purpose of the tryouts is to identify the area in which you are most able to serve the band. We hope to find a place in the percussion section for every applicant.
WHAT IF YOU CAN’T COME:
Call/e-mail 270-789-5425/Chad Floyd to schedule another audition.
