International Education Mission Statement


Mission Statement for Academic/Administrative Unit

    The Center for International Education (CIE) is the university—wide clearinghouse of information and resources for Campbellsville University faculty, staff, students and researchers involved in academic exchanges, overseas opportunities, and academic research.  The CIE works hard to promote the internationalization efforts of the campus community in accordance to our Christian mission.  It provides advice and council to CU faculty, staff, students and researchers traveling abroad and assistance to international students, faculty, staff and researchers coming to Campbellsville University for study or work. CIE works hard to provide opportunities for students to grow mentally and spiritually.  

Academic/Administrative Unit Program Goals

  • To recruit and support faculty and administrators who participate in international teaching, research, or service opportunities through academic exchange, consortia programming, or grants for oversea travel.
  • To promote and assist students participating in education abroad activities, including consortia programs, educational exchanges, internships, and mission trips.
  • To serve as the University’s Principal Designated School Official for INS – Department of Homeland Security and as Principal Responsible Officer for the U.S. Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program; coordinates and provides programs and services for international students and scholars, including immigration advice; assistance in academic and cross-cultural adaptation; recruitment and retention strategies; and advocacy.
  • Works cooperatively with Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Director of Admissions in developing overseas-based programs. Assists academic units in the development of educational exchange agreements with foreign institutions and serves as the primary recipient for such documents. Cooperates actively with the City and Commonwealth’s initiatives to foster internationalization. Represents Campbellsville University with national and international organizations in matters pertaining to international education. Provide a Christian environment that is conducive for students to spiritually benefit from programs and services.
