Granting Student Permission for CD and LP Checkout

Montgomery Library's policy is that CDs and LPs can only be taken out of the library by faculty.  This policy does not affect listening assignments in the Library.  However, we realize that some students need CDs or LPs for class presentations or projects.

We now have a form that you and your student can fill out which will allow the library to set a reasonable due date for the student, and keep track of the materials.

Please, do not check out audio materials in your name and allow students to use them.  Your loan period is a full calendar year, but your student will only be in your class for a semester.  Many problems can arise with students forgetting to return materials, and the library not realizing that the items are lost because of the year-long due date.  Avoid these problems and follow these steps:

  1. Click on this link to the form and print it out.
  2. Print your name and sign it at the bottom.
  3. Enter the date that the assignment requiring audio materials should be completed.  The student's due date will be 3 days after!
  4. Have the student fill out the top with his/her name and contact information, and sign the bottom, too.
  5. Have the student go to the Library and retrieve the items from upstairs (if they are CDs) or ask for assistance in looking up the titles and call numbers, so they can be retrieved (if they are LPs).
  6. The Circulation Desk staff should be able to check the items out to the student.

We appreciate your assistance!
