Sandra Riggs is the Electronic Resources and Bibilographic Instruction Librarian.  She is primarily responsible for database and research training, or "BI."  Most of CU's students meet Sandra in library instruction classes for English, ESL, Education, Psychology, Social Work, and other subject areas.  She also travels to do sessions for CU's Louisville Education Center, and supports distance learners.

Sandra's undergraduate degree is a BA in Journalism and Religion from Baylor University, with additional course work in Museum Studies.  She has a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  Although Sandra has a Master of Theological Studies degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School, she considers herself a generalist who likes to make connections between disciplines.

Sandra often works as a yearbook photographer.  She also works with Information Technology to manage news stories on the campus Intranet. 

She is also campus coordinator for the Appalachian College Association LAMP project, bringing the Sakai course management system to campus. 

Sandra has developed LIS 150, Information Mastery -- a 3-credit course designed to introduce students to information and research issues, and to promote life-long learning and multiple literacies.  This will be co-taught with Archvist, Tim Hooper.

She also supervises Serials and Reserves processing.  She hires and supervises student workers to monitor the Haggin Trust Computer Lab.

Out of the library, Sandra enjoys reading popular non-fiction, and is particularly interested in biology and education.  Her favorite non-fiction titles are Proust and the Squid and Thumbs, Tears and Toes: and other traits that make us Human

She is originally from Houston, and has lived in Texas, Tennessee, Colorado and Kentucky.
