Off-Campus Access User Guide
This is NOT a login page. This is a instruction list/user guide to let you know what to expect, and to help you solve access problems.
You will find links to databases on either the Subject List or the A to Z List .
![]() |
Links on the Subject List provide suggestions for databases to research each subject.
Links to the suggested databases are accessible off campus. Click any link on the page and you'll go to the ACA login screen (blue image next section).
|
On the A to Z List page, you can only use links from the right column when off campus. The links in the left column do not go through the proxy server. This provides campus access should the proxy server go down.
Once you have clicked a link from the right column, you'll be directed to the blue ACA login screen. |
You will automatically get a login screen. That is when you will enter the required Library Login Username and Password.
You should get the same blue ACA screen to log in for every database. If you get anything other this screen, your log in will not work. Please report the problem to us. EXAMPLE OF PROBLEM - Wrong Login Screen

Getting the Login Information
If you are a current Campbellsville University student, faculty or staff person, obtain the user ID and password from the library at libraryhelp@campbellsville.edu, or (270) 789-5024 and 789–5334. If you request the password via e-mail, please identify yourself as CU-affiliated, preferably with your CU ID. We cannot publish the login information on the Internet. This is NOT the same password that you use for online classes or registration.
Problems
What should I do if I experience problems?
If you do not get a log in screen that looks like the sample image, the proxy server may be down, or there may be a technical problem.
What's the most common problem that I might encounter? AOL users cannot access databases in the AOL window. You must open a new browser, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape. If you have "time out" or other issues with AOL, call AOL Technical Service. Tell them you are a college student who has to use a proxy server, and ask them for the current workaround. |
What can I do to prevent problems?

Problems in Accessing CU Resources at Other Institutions
This may be a particular problem for adjunct instructors -- two proxy servers create a problem. If your other institution uses a proxy server to access databases, it will "take over" authorization. When this happens, you may not be able to get to the log in screen, or the log in screen may freeze (most common response). You will need to discuss the problem with the other institution's tech people or librarians. It is not very likely that you will be able to access the CU databases from that location.
If you need assistance, contact the Campbellsville University, Montgomery Library Reference Desk, or the Electronic Resources Librarian. If the problem persists, report it to both Montgomery Library, 789-5024, and CU's Information Technology, 789-5012.
Use of our database proxy server for off campus access is made possible by Campbellsville University’s membership in the Appalachian College Association Central Library.
