School of Business and Economics

The objective of the faculty of the School of Business and Economics is to present collegiate programs in business disciplines, based upon a strong liberal arts foundation delivered in a Christian environment. The School offers at Campbellsville University’s Louisville Education Center an Associate of Science in Administrative Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an area of emphasis in Organizational Management. These programs are offered in a strong liberal arts general education curriculum to provide a broad-based business education grounded in sound Christian general values.

Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management

The major/area in Organizational Management is a degree-completion program for non-traditional "adult" learners to be offered in the evening and extension program of the University. Coupled with the general education program of the University, it is intended to lead to a Bachelor of Science Degree. Extensive reading and writing assignments are required between class meetings.

Students are expected to progress as a group from one module to the next, with courses offered in succession, except for breaks at Christmas and July 4. The major program takes a little more than one calendar year to complete. Students must commit themselves to a period of intense study when they undertake the program, since most courses are completed in five weeks.

An "Experiential Learning" portfolio program (see course description EL 480) may be used in conjunction with the Organizational Administration program. The Organizational Administration program is designed with enough flexibility to meet the needs of students with a minor concentration from an Associated degree, or by a combination of transfer and additional courses, if not using the Experiential Learning program. Students who graduate from the OA program are required to meet the current general education requirements of the University, in keeping with the liberal arts philosophy of all our programs.

The Organizational Management program is a more general, non-traditional version of the major in Business Administration, applicable to executives, administrators, and decision-makers in many types of organizations. The program is designed with five-week modules, to meet six hours per week, with extra reading assignments, and a high level of involvement outside of class. Each course has a final examination in addition to other evaluation of student work such as papers assigned.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (without condition):

  1. Completion of 60 semester hours of approved college-level credit (transcript required).
  2. Attainment of a 2.25 GPA overall in previous college-level work.
  3. Completion of English 111, 112, and Math 111, or equivalents, with "C" grade or better in each.
  4. Age 23 or older.

Organizational Management Area (Degree Completion Program)
Evening sessions are scheduled to meet from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Students must document one extra group class meeting per week of four hours.

School of Theology

It is the task of the School of Theology to carry forth the study of God as a wholehearted response of gratitude, and stewardship to God, as revealed in Jesus Christ. The heart of Christian Studies is a comprehensive focus upon the Bible, biblical languages, theology, philosophy, pastoral ministries, church history, Christian leadership, educational ministries, and evangelism. This is done as an integral part of Campbellsville University, a scholarly community dedicated to the search for truth under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

The School of Theology’s fourfold purpose is:

  1. To nurture each student believer’s individual relationship with God, enrich each student’s maturity of faith and knowledge about God, and assist in the development of Christian discipleship behavior in the presence of God;
  2. To equip scholars for deeper understanding of the scriptures as well as the will and purpose of God for individuals, societies, and the whole human race;
  3. To assist in the preparation of Christians for secular or ministry vocations as well as for evangelistic, caring, and mission outreach activities of the churches and institutions of the churches; and
  4. To carry on the school’s educational work within the walls of the campus to places of invitation or opportunity to fulfill the mission of the University and the Christian faith.
