Featured Speaker: Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley is the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, a premier international Christian missions agency of African American heritage founded in 1897, that helps churches extend their witness to the ends of the earth. As the chief executive officer of Lott Carey, Mr. Goatley oversees vision, administration, and development efforts to invest in indigenous leadership and programs in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America. An ordained Baptist minister who has been a pastor, university professor, and seminary professor, Rev. Goatley earned degrees from the University of Louisville (AAS and BS) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv and PhD). In addition to journal articles, book chapters, and online essays, Dr. Goatley is the author of two books, Were You There?: Godforsakenness in Slave Religion (Orbis Books, 1996; Augsburg Fortress Press, 2008) and A Divine Assignment: The Missiology of Wendell Clay Somerville (Lucas Parks Books, 2010); and editor of Black Religion, Black Theology: Selected Writings of J. Deotis Roberts (Trinity Press International, 2003). Dr. Goatley is former pastor of Campbellsville First Baptist Church and his wife is from Campbellsville.
