Let your Tiger pride shine by giving to CU on Give Day

Let your Tiger pride shine by giving to CU on Give DayBy Gracyne Hash, student intern, Campbellsville University Communications Office

The second annual Campbellsville University Give Day is about to be underway.

The university’s Give Day is an event that happens every year during Homecoming and is a wonderful way to get involved with or show your support for CU and her incoming students, according to Darryl Peavler, director of alumni relations.

Give Day is a day where anyone who wants to can donate to CU and all the funds collected go to the upcoming and current students at CU to help them afford and pay off student debt.

Last year, the university added this day to the list of Homecoming activities to raise awareness and participation from CU’s long list of alumni and to help raise money for student scholarships.

The Give Day, being held Oct. 6, was created in 2017 and is continuing to grow this year, Peavler said.

Last year the goal was 1,100 gifts, and this year it has been changed to 1,500 gifts as a grand total.

“This is an amazing opportunity for families, friends, alumni and people around town to donate to the university’s scholarship fund to keep student debt as low as possible,” Peavler said.

The donation does not have to be specific, any amount of money given to the college to help reach the goal is appreciated and considered a gift.

The university has several ways to donate; you do not even have to come to the university. One option is by going to www.campbellsville.edu/alumni, and another is by calling (270) 789-5211 or visiting the Office of Development at Campbellsville University at 107 W. Broadway, Campbellsville, Ky.

The university will also have donation locations set up all around Campbellsville. To find one of these locations look for the yard-sale style signs that will be posted in front of the businesses.

On Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 6, the university will also have several locations set up on campus, where people can give. Sites include the Alumni Registration Tent on Stapp Lawn, and other locations as well.

Stay tuned to the Campbellsville University’s Facebook page for updates and more information.

Peavler said, “It’s super easy to be part of Give Day. Making donations to the university is very simple but will have such a great impact.”

Peavler said to make gifts online, or in person, and “share on social media and tag all your friends!”

Peavler said sharing on social media helps the university by making donations and those are given online and in person, but it also helps the university to get the word out that Give Day is happening and donations are needed to assist the CU students.

“Give Day is such an exciting event but also has such an important meaning. It is such a great opportunity to show your spirit and support for the CU Tigers. Donation by donation the goal will be reached but we need your help!,” he said.

Peavler said, “It’s a great day to let your Tiger pride shine!”
