Office of Counseling Services

Mission of Counseling Services: To provide confidential, professional counseling services in a Christian atmosphere to assist students dealing with emotional, psychological, social, and/or spiritual needs.

College students face many obstacles and difficulties. Sometimes these obstacles can become quite overwhelming. Talking with a counselor can help these struggles seem less stressful and can help resolve personal issues. The Office of Counseling Services provides confidential counseling in a caring atmosphere to assist students in dealing with their innermost needs. Sometimes a one-time consultation may be enough to get students started in a helpful direction. Sometimes more intense services are necessary. By providing assessments, individual counseling, group counseling, and referral services students will have the opportunities to develop into more confident, mature individuals who can achieve academic and personal success.

Who will counsel with you?

Mrs. Jodi Allen, LMFT, LPCC is the Director of Counseling Services. She has clinical and administrative experience serving students at the primary, secondary, and university education levels. She also has experience counseling families in private practice. She has been working with students at Campbellsville University for more than four years. She is a full time employee with the Office of Counseling Services.

Mr. Lynn Colvin, MS, CADC, CPRC, worked 20 years with ADANTA Behavior Health Services in Taylor County before his retirement in July 2006. He is available to counsel with students on Thursdays of each week, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Mrs. Wanda Dobbins, LCSW, is currently working with Hospice of Hardin County, and has served as counselor at Cornerstone Christian Counseling. Previously, Wanda and her husband, Jim served as Missionaries to Chili for 18 years with the SBC International Mission Board. Wanda comes to the  Office of Counseling Services on Wednesdays of each week and is available to see students from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Confidentiality

Counselors at the Office of Counseling Services maintain client confidentiality to the fullest extent allowed by law, professional ethics, and institutional rules. Students will be informed about the counselor's commitment to confidentiality and its limits before engaging in counseling. In the event that the counselors want to obtain or request information from another professional staff, the student would be asked to give written permission in order for the information to be shared. The only exception to the written permission would be in the case of life threatening events and/or the student's safety.

Appointments

Please call the Office of Counseling Services at 270-789-5070 for appointments. Our center is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. The office is located at 202 Meader Street, across the street from the Residence Village, and next door to Carver School of Social Work Building.
