SENIOR ANALYST PROGRAMMER-MAINFRAME

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Analyst Programmer-Mainframe in the IT/Life Administration Systems Department. The incumbent will generally work under the direction of the area manager and as part of a project team. The incumbent independently analyzes user requests to determine parameters of required programming; if a new program must be created or if an existing program can be modified. With direction from Senior Systems Analyst, System Analyst or Manager, the incumbent will assist with proposed technical designs for complex computer programs based on user requests.
This position reports administratively to an appropriate manager, but may be responsible to a Senior Systems Analyst or Systems Analyst for project performance and specific assignments. The work of this position focuses on both the programming and design/analyis stages of the System Development Life Cycle, with an expectation of increasing emphasis on solutions for larger scale projects. This position reports to the Manager, Policy Administration Systems.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Professional qualifications or equivalent training/education in information systems as evidenced by a
Bachelor’s degree or its business equivalent.
At least five (5) years of advanced mainframe programming using COBOL, PL/1, DB/2, VSAM,
IMS, CICS is required.
Understanding of Information Systems infrastructure & strategy, Systems Analysis & Design, Testing
& Debugging Skills, Documenting, Business Knowledge, Systems Knowledge, Communication Skills, and Diagnostic & Troubleshooting Skills are required.
Understanding of Individual Life, Disability, and Annuity Insurance Products is preferred.
Experience with Vantage Administration Systems (Vantage One or Wealth Management Accelerator ) is preferred.
