RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs skilled planning technician work involving data collection, research and graphic exhibits within the Division of Planning with duties to include but are not limited to:

* Gather population, public facility, land use, social, economic, zoning and other information and prepare projections of needs, usage and impacts as appropriate.
* Operate microcomputer to enter and retrieve information and prepare and/or revise graphs, tables, etc. or for other purposes as required.
* Collect data, conduct research and surveys, gather and review literature and source material for report preparation.
* Design, lay out and prepare illustrations, charts, graphs, tables, brochures, posters, etc.
* Maintain the long-range planning library.
* Work with public to answer questions and provide information concerning general projects, land use and other inquiries related to the planning functions.
* Other duties may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:

- Computers, mathematics and statistics
- Principles, practices and techniques of urban planning, zoning and development
- Literature and sources of information available concerning planning matters and of the techniques and procedures useful to collect, analyze and report on such subjects

Ability to:
- Develop data on elementary planning problems from public records and field inspections
- Operate microcomputers and software programs used in planning
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and deal tactfully with other employees, developers, engineers and the general public
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an associates degree in planning, geography, architecture technology or related field and two (2) years of experience in database management and research or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Completion of a bachelor's degree is preferred,
EXAMINATIONS
Will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date.
