**Special Notice**
Students that have a test or lab the day that they are to go to the Repair Affair, it is strongly suggested that you make up your Repair Affair day and take your test or attend your lab. Please make arrangements with your First Class instructor to make up the Repair Affair. This also applies to mentors. Click this link to the Repair Affair Schedule and the days that are considered make up.
What to Expect:
On the morning of your designated “Repair Affair” project day, please report to the foyer of the Winters Dining Hall by 8:30am. Your student mentor will be there to do roll call and check you in with a sign-in sheet. You will need to be dressed appropriately for work and the possibility of getting dirty (please see below for appropriate clothing). There will be 2 vans at the Winters dining hall which will transport your class to the Repair Affair project site. Lunches will be provided by the Dining Hall and you will take those with you to the project site.
There are multiple possibilities of the types of work you could be doing so come with a flexible attitude and willingness to learn something new! Examples of the types of work you could be doing are; helping to build a deck or wheelchair ramp, installing storm doors and windows, painting, roofing, etc. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to do construction, KHO staff will be there to teach you the skills needed and lead the project site. Classes will return to campus by 3:00pm.
What to Wear:
Remember that you will be working and need to dress accordingly. Please wear clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting dirty. For your safety you MUST wear closed-toe shoes such as work boots or tennis shoes. Do not wear flip-flops or sandals.
