Welcome New Students

It’s time to make your plans to attend one of our New Student Orientations coming up in May, June, and July. It is the best opportunity for you and your family to see first hand your new "home away from home". Attending one of our New Student Orientations is vitally important to the transition and success of entering this exciting new phase of your life as a student at Campbellsville University.

Parents are Invited

Parents are strongly encouraged to join their son and/or daughter for this very significant event. There will be informative seminars to assist parents with ways to aid their new student in making the transition to University life, as well as answer any questions. The Office of Financial Aid is open Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., E.D.T. If you have individual questions, feel free to schedule an appointment with a Financial Aid Advisor before the Orientation process begins.

What Happens at Orientation?

This overnight event is designed to acquaint students and families with campus life and "L.I.N.C." you to the services and opportunities available to you here at Campbellsville University. Students will: Meet with an academic advisor; Schedule classes; Get a University ID; Have the opportunity to discuss your preliminary charges with the Office of Business Services; Resident students (those who are required to live on campus) will meet their residence hall director and possibly meet their roommate; Commuter students (those eligible to live at home and commute to classes) will be introduced to campus life.

Schedule

On the First Day of each L.I.N.C. New Student Orientation session you will

3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m

  • Check-in at the Ransdell Chapel, where students and families will receive information folders including a detailed schedule of the events to take place that evening and the next day;
  • Take the brief COMPASS placement test;
  • Get set up in your room for the night before dinner;
  • You have the option of getting your ID made today or tomorrow.
  • Visit our Barnes & Noble Campbellsville University Bookstore.

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

  • Dinner will be served in the Winters Dining Hall for new students and families/guests.

6:45 p.m.

  • The evening program and activities will begin back in the Ransdell Chapel (where you checked in).

On the Second Day of Orientation you will:

7:30 a.m.

  • Start the morning with a continental breakfast available for students.

8:30 a.m.

  • Program begins at the Ransdell Chapel where you checked in the first day by 8:30 a.m.. MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR NEW STUDENT FOLDER.
  • After a brief program, students will be meeting with their advisors to schedule classes.
  • Parents will attend a seminar designed just for them.
  • Have your Campbellsville University ID made if you did not do so on the first day.

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • You should be finished for the day and ready to return home to digest all the information you received and start getting excited about returning to Campbellsville University in August.
  • Other offices you may want to visit are Admissions, Financial Aid, and Business Services.

Making a Reservation

In order to provide quality, individual attention to each of our new students and their families, we are limiting the number of participants to each Orientation. Therefore, it is imperative that you Make a Reservation by filling it out the Registration Form below. Please prioritize the four Orientation dates by choosing your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choice for attending. You will receive a Reservation Confirmation notice through the mail, confirming the date we are able to reserve for you. Deadlines for making a reservation are at least one week prior to the Orientation date you request as your first choice.

Dr. John Hurtgen, Dean of the School of Theology, explains the basics and benefits of the “First CLASS” program.  First Class is an opportunity to facilitate the life lessons needed to realize a more fulfilling life – spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially.  

When and Where

We are offering a variety of dates this year to better accommodate families and their busy schedules. The New Student Orientation dates are:

  • June 5-6 (Thursday-Friday) FULL
  • June 27-28 (Friday-Saturday) FULL
  • July 17-18 (Thursday - Friday)
  • August 1 (Friday - Not an overnight event)

In general, on the first day of each Orientation session you will check-in at the Ransdell Chapel between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., where students and families will receive information folders with a detailed schedule of the events to take place that evening and the next day. Dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the evening program and activities beginning at 7:00 p.m. The second day of Orientation will have students meeting with their advisors to schedule classes, have their Campbellsville University ID made, while parents attend a seminar designed just for them.

Overnight Info

Students will be our guests for overnight and will stay with another student in one of our residence halls. You will need to bring linens, pillow, towels, soap, and an alarm clock. Dress for all sessions will be casual. Parents will need to make reservations to stay at one of our local motels.

This overnight experience will help residents and commuters become better acquainted as well as familiarize students with living on campus.

After talking over course selection with an advisor, students enter their upcoming fall schedule into our computer system on the Internet via “TigerNet.”  

Costs

There is no cost for the student. A $10.00 registration fee to cover the cost of materials and dining services for parents is to be paid at check-in time. Additional guests such as siblings, spouses, or friends will be charged $5.00 on an individual basis for meal services only. (Please do not send money through the mail).
