Sullivan University has an opening for a Public Safety Officer at the Louisville campus. The Public Safety Officer reports directly to the Director of Public Safety.
Essential Job Functions
Responds to and documents violations of law and/or institutional policy.
Responds to and documents on-campus motor vehicle accidents.
Provides emergency first-aid/CPR in the absence of the Health Services Coordinator.
Enforces parking regulations and processes parking registrations for all students, faculty and staff members.
Works with the lost and found program.
Completes written case reports and conducts investigations into violations; interfaces and coordinates with LMPD.
Provides emergency services during fire alarms, severe weather, etc.
Participates in registration and orientation activities as assigned.
Testifies in court on behalf of the University in applicable situations.
Operates a CCTV system.
Works closely with the Housing staff to ensure reported incidents are documented for inclusion in the annual crime report.
Non-essential Job Functions
Assists in special events, such as Orientation, Family Weekend, field trips, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A minimum of a High School Diploma;
The ability to stand, walk or sit for long periods of time; work in inclement weather (rain, snow, extreme hot/cold weather), place oneself in a position of potential physical harm to protect oneself or a third party;
Excellent customer services skills; excellent verbal and written communication; intermediate computer literacy;
Must have a solid foundation in communication, teamwork, customer service and effective interpersonal relations;
A valid drivers license with no major violations;
The willingness to be assigned to first, second or third shift depending on the need of the department.
The ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to: computers, telephone systems and copier.
The ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face.
Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate must NOT have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor. The candidate must also be able to pass a drug screen and background investigation.
1-3 years experience in Public Safety, Emergency Medical Service, or Police duty
