An intentional commitment has been made to developing a “global community of learners” with around 300 international students enrolled at any point in time (the largest number of international students among Kentucky’s 20 private nonprofit colleges and universities). During the fall 2013 semester, CU’s full-time undergraduate student population was almost 25% minority (24.8%) with around 14% African American students (more than twice the state’s percentage of African American of around 7% and the local area’s percentage of around 5%). CU’s commitment to diversity has been recognized at the state and national levels by a host of organizations and officials.
