‘It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play’ to be performed by Campbellsville University Dec. 14-17

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University is partnering with Town Hall Productions to perform “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” at the Ross Mobley Theater on the campus of Campbellsville University on Thursday, Dec. 14 through Sunday, Dec. 17.

The theater is located in the Alumni Building at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

On Dec. 14, 15 and 16, the play will begin at 7 p.m. On Dec. 17 the theater will perform its matinee showing at 2:30 pm.

The following synopsis is from Playscripts: This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

Tickets for this performance can be purchased at the door or reserved. General admission is $10; and the cost for seniors 65 and older, children 12 years old and younger or Campbellsville University employees is $7. Campbellsville University students pay $5.

The cast for “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” includes:  Bruce Rule (from Elkhorn) as Jake Laurents (George Bailey); Jonathan Hieneman (from Campbellsville) as Hunter Crestwood (Mr. Potter & more);  Jenny Kawa (from Greensburg) as Sally Applewhite (Mary Hatch); Sarah Durham (from Campbellsville) as Lana Sherwood (Violet Bick & more); James Mattingly (from Danville) as Harry “Jazzbo” Haywood (Clarence Oddbody & more); Andrew Ward (from Campbellsville) as Freddie Filmore (Announcer, Uncle Billy & more) and Dave and Nancy Walters (Campbellsville) as the Foley Artists.

The crew for “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” includes: Alia McClendon of Radcliff, Ky. as the director; Starr Word Garrett, director and associate professor of theater at Campbellsville University, as technical director; Diandra Sallee of Nicholasville, Ky., as the stage manager; Matt Nall, assistant to the director of the theater, as set constructor; and Haley Saylor of Monticello, costumes.
