Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education

The School of Education offers two Bachelor of Science degree programs and an Associate of Science degree program in Early Childhood Education.

All early childhood degree programs are offered on Campbellsville’s main campus. Bachelor degree programs are offered as degree-completion programs for students completing associate degrees in early childhood at the following off-campus sites:

  • Louisville: CU-Louisville, 2300 Green Way, Louisville
  • Elizabethtown:  Elizabethtown Community & Technical College, 600 College Street Road, JSO Building Room 132
  • Owensboro: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 5664 Hwy 56, Owensboro
  • Somerset: Noe Center, Stoplight 22 on U.S. 27 South, Somerset

The School of Education offers an IECE Professional Specialty Option in the Teacher Leader Master of Arts in Education (TL-MAE) Program.

Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education

The IECE Program is designed to prepare the teacher candidates to teach in inclusive preschool and kindergarten classrooms in a Kentucky public school and to work as a Developmental Interventionist (a certified position serving families and their children birth to age three who are at risk for disabilities). Course content emphasizes child growth and development, education, service requirements for children with exceptionalities, assessment, curriculum, instruction in the learning environment, collaboration, and professionalism. Experiences focus on developing foundational skills, knowledge, and dispositions through meaningful interaction with children and families in a variety of environments including culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms, children’s homes, hospitals, or any other natural environment.

Bachelors of Science with an Area of Emphasis in Montessori Education

Learn the foundations of the Montessori philosophy, which include self-expression, collaboration, and discovery, while developing skills in general education and classroom leadership. Whether you’re a Montessori-credentialed educator working with students or you work with students in a non-educational capacity, deepening your knowledge of the Montessori educational philosophy can help you meet the demands of your job. The Master of Education in Montessori Teacher Education is a program deeply rooted in Campbellsville University’s Christian traditions.
Our online program provides students with a flexible learning experience that can fit into a busy schedule. You’ll have access to your course materials whenever you need them with our online classroom.

Associate of Science Degree and a Director’s Credential

An Associate of Science Degree and a Director’s Credential are also offered. Courses leading to the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential are offered in partnership with Head Start agencies.
