1. Position: Banquet and Event Server

Status: Part-time, Hourly

Position Summary
Reporting to and partnering with the Catering and Event Service Manager, Banquet and Event Servers provide high quality food service delivery during events and banquets hosted by SVPH. This position is also responsible for assisting with the setup and breakdown of food service supplies and venues as required.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Collaborates with other Food and Beverage staff to consistently create an atmosphere and environment for all culinary experiences that is brand-driven and on point with Village-wide initiatives and strategies.

Prior to banquet and event experiences:
o Thoroughly review Banquet Event Orders and instructions regarding details of event.
o Prepare the event space, including action stations, buffets, beverage stations, tables, etc. according to Banquet Event Order.
o Ensure readiness of room for event with an eye for detail; ensure tables in assigned area have been set correctly and uniformly.
o Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.

During banquet and event experiences:
o Acknowledge guests upon arrival with a warm, welcoming greeting.
o Speak with all guests and fellow staff using clear and professional language.
o Serve the meal according to established standards for style of service.
o Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests to supervisor.
o Provide consistent beverage service throughout the event, including wine and other alcohol service as required. Report any concerns related to alcoholic consumption to supervisor on duty.
o Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation.
o Monitor tableware to ensure presentation standard is met. Replace items as necessary.
o Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
o Ensure courses are cleared and tables crumbed promptly and thoroughly.
o Thank guests with sincere appreciation upon their departure.

Following banquet and event experiences:
o Assist in breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
o Ensure all tableware, linen and equipment is returned to proper place and stored appropriately.

• Provides the thoughtful oversight of all supplies and inventory, ensuring efficient and effective use of Village resources.
• Supports a safe workplace for both staff and guests by adhering to appropriate standards for food service safety.
• Appropriately represents the organization and its mission to all guests, volunteers and donors.

Busser Job Summary

The Busser assists the servers with the clearing, cleaning and resetting of tables. Fills and refills, coffee, waters, iced teas and soft drinks. Runs food orders if necessary. Restocks, silver, glasses and other service ware during and after the service. Replenishes ice, makes coffee, and generally helps ensure a smooth meal service.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Serves and refills water and non-alcoholic beverages
2. Assists servers in the bussing of tables.
3. Cleans and resets tables
4. Restocks ice, flatware, glassware
5. Shares responsibility with the servers for the order and cleanliness of the Dining Room during service
6. Immediately addresses any spills on the floor
7. Knowledge of table numbers and pivot points
8. Performs other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or GED preferred
2. Prior bussing experience in a restaurant is preferred but not required
3. A proven track record of dependability is essential

Position Summary
Reporting to and partnering with the on duty Restaurant Manager, Dining Room Servers are responsible for the delivery of excellent food service and hospitality to guests dining in The Trustees’ Table.

Dining Room Servers are responsible for knowing and explaining menus, taking food orders, delivering food and beverage (including alcoholic beverages), clearing tables and processing payment for guests.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Collaborates with other Food and Beverage staff to consistently create an atmosphere and environment for all culinary experiences that is brand-driven and on point with Village-wide initiatives and strategies.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of all food and beverage selections on menus, including sourcing, ingredients and composition, in order to provide professional presentation and insight for dining guests.
• Thoroughly prepare the dining room for service, including action stations, buffets, beverage stations, tables, etc. according to Trustees’ Table standards.
• Ensure table readiness with an eye for detail; ensure tables in assigned area have been set correctly and uniformly.

Bartender Job Summary

The bartender at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is responsible for serving patrons in an accurate and timely fashion at various bars and venues throughout SVPH while consistently delivering a high level of customer service. This position will be responsible for maintaining a stocked and clean environment in accordance with SVPH and Mercer County Health Standards. The Bartender maintains an accurate cash drawer throughout the service shift and is accountable it and is responsible for expressing creativity in developing specialty cocktails, and maintaining recipe standards and accurate pours on all spirits.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Greet and serve guests in in a courteous and timely manner
2. Check IDs and maintain a safe environment by being aware of patrons consumption
3. Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving cocktails.
4. Mix all cocktails according to recipe and serving size; utilize proper glassware
5. Proper cash handling; Proper handling of credit card processing with an iPad and square attachment
6. Maintain an efficient and clean, and stocked bar
7. Becomes proficient in setting up and breaking down the Music Bar, The trustee’s service bar, and all catered event bars
8. Assists with the development and serving of specialty cocktails for bars and Fresh Food Adventures
9. Proper storage and service of wine.

Skills and Qualifications

1. Possesses a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a full-service bartender.
2. Demonstrate strong passion and motivation to create and serve excellent beverages
3. Show ability to prepare and execute cocktails to recipe standards
4. Knowledge of wines, distilled spirits, beer styles and the proper service of them.
5. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required
6. Serve Safe certified
7. Certification as a mixologist from a certified bartending School preferred

Dishwasher job summary

The dishwasher at Shaker Village is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china (dishes), glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc. using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility. The dishwasher supports management and all kitchen staff in developing a sense of teamwork and cooperation.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glassware, silverware and cooking utensils to wash in dish machine and by hand.
2. Operate and maintain dish machine in safe and efficient manner.
3. Wash pots and pans by hand.
4. Clean Tables and carry trays to dish area.
5. Store cleaned items in work areas in orderly fashion
6. Remove trash and cardboard from work areas.
7. Sweep and mop floors.
8. Clean garbage cans.
9. Setup and break down tables, chairs and other equipment for special events
10. Comply with all safety and health department requirements
11. Rotate stock and put up truck deliveries.
12. General restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed

Host/Hostess job summary

The Hostess position at Shaker Village is responsible for greeting our guests when they enter our restaurant, seating the guests, and making reservations. Hostess also assist with set up of tables and clearing tables for next seating. Hostesses are the first point of contact for our guests. Hostesses must demonstrate genuine hospitality and the ability to make the guests feel welcome. Hostesses are required to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. They must be able to handle guests concerns without getting defensive or confrontational. Hostess must be able to manage the reservation list and still handle walk in guests with the same level of hospitality.

Duties: Specific Duties and Essential functions:

1. Greet guests as they enter and thank them when they leave.
2. Seat guests promptly while maintaining a good rotation so servers can provide the best service possible.
3. Communicate well with coworkers and management to deliver a high level of customer service.
4. Set up and clear tables as needed.
5. Demonstrate high level of teamwork to get guests seated in a timely manner without sacrificing hospitality.
6. Stay informed on happenings in the Village and be familiar with Shaker Village map to be able to communicate with our guests in a way that enhances their experience.
