Dr. Rager has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education with a Specialization in Higher Education Leadership; Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP); Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nurse Educator Specialization; Post-MSN Certificate, Family Nurse Practitioner; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate in Arts; Associate in Applied Science; Practical Nurse Diploma; and trained as a nurse aid and medication aid. He holds certifications as a Nurse Educator and Family Nurse Practitioner.


Dr. Rager has an extensive background in academia and previously served in academic role/s such as Dean of Nursing, Campus Dean, Director of Nursing, Program Coordinator, Faculty, and held academic rank(s) of Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor with Tenure. He has experience with Nurse Aid, Practical Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing, RN to BSN, Master Degree Nursing, and also Allied Health programs. Additionally, Dr. Rager has experience working with program offerings in non-healthcare disciplines. He has also held roles such as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Director of Nursing Services, and Staff Development Coordinator.


Dr. Rager is a member of various professional organizations related to nursing and education. He is an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and has been honored with various other awards/recognition over his career for professional accomplishments or related to his academic performance. Dr. Rager has the distinct honor to provide professional service and/or leadership through current and past leadership roles with the Kentucky Nurses Association; and service through his previous roles with other organizations, service as a manuscript reviewer for professional journals, and past reviewer for other publications.
