Jordan Alves, a native of Lawrenceburg, Ky., joined the Campbellsville University athletic department in August 2013 as a graduate assistant and was promoted to Sports Information Director on May 5, 2015.
In just his second year as a full-time sports information director, Alves was named the SID of the Year for the 2016-17 season in the Mid-South Conference.
Alves serves as the primary media contact for CU athletics and maintains the athletic website, CampbellsvilleTigers.com, and social media platforms – @CvilleTigers on Twitter and Instagram and Campbellsville Tigers on Facebook. Alves has built @CvilleTigers to be the most followed athletic department twitter handle in the NAIA.
He also helps coordinate special video, radio and TV productions for the athletic department, including being the host of “Inside CU Sports” on 88.7 The Tiger FM and the Tiger Tailgate Show getting fans ready for kickoff on Saturdays. Alves has enjoyed covering 18 Mid-South Conference championships in the previous three years, over 20 NAIA or NCCAA national tournaments and one NCCAA National Championship.
In addition to his role as sports information director, Alves in a member of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and NAIA-SIDA. The CU sports information department earned 10 awards in Alves’ first year as sports information director. Also in his first season as SID, Alves oversaw a website redesign of CampbellsvilleTigers.com in the summer of 2016.
In addition to his role as SID, he is a member of the CU Booster Club, Big Maroon Club, Homcoming Committee and Campbellsvillian Board of Directors. Alves also serves as an adjunct professor in the human performance department.
During his years as graduate assistant, Alves redesigned game day handouts, facilitated game day operations for football, soccer, basketball, softball, golf and baseball home events and created new web graphics. He also broadcasts the CU baseball & softball games on the Campbellsville University Sports Network, 88.7 The Tiger.
From August 2014 to February 2015, Alves was the sports editor at the Greensburg Record-Herald in Greensburg, Ky. for seven months, covering two KHSAA State Championships, while working full-time in the CU athletic department.
Alves began his career at Campbellsville in 2009, playing on the Tiger baseball team. He played for two seasons and then took the role as student-assistant coach. His main duties were head JV coach, recruiting assistant, developed scouting reports, assisted with camps, and coached first base during games. He was a part of two Mid-South Conference (MSC) regular season championships (2010 and 2011) and went on to the NAIA World Series Opening Round playoffs his first three seasons with the team.
During his time working on the staff, Alves was very involved with game day operations. He led the grounds crew in 2011 and 2012 during the MSC tournament and also handled sideline work during the men’s and women’s 2012-2013 basketball season by working the game clock and scoreboard for CU games.
Alves graduated from Campbellsville in 2013 with an undergraduate degree in Sports Management and finished his Masters degree in Organizational Leadership in May 2015.
