Kristin Dowdy is the dance instructor on faculty at Campbellsville University. Kristin received her MFA in Dance from The College at Brockport, State University of New York and BFA in Dance Performance with a minor in Business from Ball State University.
Ms. Dowdy is an active member of National Dance Educators Organization (NDEO) and served on the board for New York State Dance Educators Association (NYSDEA) for three years. In addition to her participation in NDEO and NYSDEA, Ms. Dowdy has presented her work at multiple conferences including the annual NDEO Conference, Southeastern Theatre Conference, and the National Collegiate Honors Conference.
While living in New York City, Kristin was a company member with Andrew Jannetti and Dancers and Jessica Lewis Arts, two education-based dance companies in Brooklyn, NY. In addition, Ms. Dowdy performed with multiple choreographers, including Curtis Stedge and Cheryl Johnson, in Rochester, NY.
Kristin is passionate about sharing her love of movement because she believes everyone can dance. She especially loves working with theater artists or those new to movement because many people are unaware of the catalogue of gestures and actions that they perform every day. Dance provides individuals with the tools to refine daily movements into storytelling devices and to expand their movement vocabulary by suggesting and encouraging new movement possibilities.
