Faculty Recital: Chris Pearlberg, Tuba

Born outside of Philadelphia, Chris Pearlberg is a musician currently living and working in Indiana. Chris has performed with various orchestras and ensembles, ranging from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic, Springfield (OH) Symphony Orchestra, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, the Hersheypark Mistletones, the All Star Refjúdží Band from Prague, and the four-piece rock band Renne. Chris was an Associate Member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for the 2013-2014 season.

Chris holds a Master of Music degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Temple University. His major teachers include Craig Knox, Principal Tuba of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Carol Jantsch, Principal Tuba of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Jay Krush of the Chestnut Brass Company and Principal Tuba of the Pennsylvania Ballet. While at Temple, Chris had the opportunity to study many genres of music, including playing bass trombone in one of the jazz bands, and studying harmony with Greg Kettinger.

Currently, Chris is a DM student at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under Daniel Perantoni, where he is the Associate Instructor of Tuba. He is the applied tuba faculty at Campbellsville University and Indiana University Southeast. His summers are spent in upstate New York, teaching and performing at the Luzerne Music Center.

Chris exclusively performs on the Melton Meinl Weston 6450/2 CC and 2250 F tubas, as well as Giddings Mouthpieces.
