Oct 9, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Saulo DeAlmeida started his music journey very early in his life. At 7 years old he started on piano and at 13 on cello. Only eight years later Saulo was playing violoncello at the National Symphony Orchestra in Brazil. Saulo was also highly interested in popular music since very early in his life and growing up in Rio de Janeiro was a great opportunity to listen, to record and to play with some of the finest bossa-nova and samba musicians, as well as with musicians from other Brazilian genres. Saulo came to America to further his studies in cello, getting a masters degree in cello performance from Florida International University. In 2008 Saulo was awarded a full scholarship and a graduate teacher assistantship to study jazz at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Program (University of Louisville) finishing his second master’s degree in jazz bass in the spring of 2010. At UofL Saulo played for 3 semesters with the UofL Jazz Band and with the Mixolegion Jazz Quintet recording a complete album sponsored by the University and performing great concerts here in America and in Russia always with great audience receptivity. Currently Saulo teaches full-time at Campbellsville University and performs around the world with the Almeida Duo.
