Campbellsville University to hold talk discussing death of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, policing and social unrest, tonight

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University is holding a talk tonight from 6 to 8 o’clock EST discussing the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, policing and social unrest.

The event will be streamed live via the Campbellsville University Facebook page.

The discussion will consist of a panel discussion featuring university personnel as well as Dr. Lewis Brogdon, professor of preaching and black church studies from Simmons College in Louisville, and Dr. Carey Ruiz, Campbellsville University’s associate professor of sociology and justice studies and director of diversity and community.

Dr. John Chowning, executive vice president to Campbellsville University’s president for government, community and constituent relations, and Susie Trejo Williams, assistant professor of art and design, will be the moderators.

Others participating are: Jasmine Barnett, director of church outreach and associate campus minister; Dr. Twyla Hernandez, associate professor of Christian missions; Dr. Joseph E. Early Jr., professor of theology and director of quality enhancement plan;

Dr. Dale Wilson, associate professor of criminal justice and director of criminal justice programs; William Cassell, assistant professor of criminal justice; Dr. Shawn Williams, lead/associate professor of political science and director of Kentucky Heartland Institute for Public Policy;

Wanda Washington, coordinator of diversity and community at Campbellsville University, and director of Greater Campbellsville United; and Kyle Davis, director of campus safety and security.
