Associate of Science in General Studies
Campbellsville University’s Associate of Science in General Studies (ASGS) offers students a broad curriculum in a variety of disciplines, such as English, Science, Mathematics, and Social Science, all with a core of Christian values. This general studies degree is currently available on site at the CU Louisville Center (and also online).
Our general studies curriculum covers the essentials that make up a quality university education. It also proves to future employers that you have a broad educational background, with the adaptability and open mind needed to understand a wide range of subjects. Although statistics tend to vary, most have shown that at least 50% of new college students are undecided about their major, and many of them will change majors at least three times before graduation. With a general studies degree, students can sample a variety of courses that guide their personal and cultural development.
For this general studies degree completion program, Campbellsville assumes that an incoming student has little to no prior college experience. The program is a great entry or re-entry point for the continuing learner who seeks a liberal arts degree as an adult. The generous transfer policy can also be of great benefit to students attempt to complete their degrees.
Campbellsville’s general studies associates degree takes between 18 and 30 months to complete, including:
- 16 semester hours in Personal and Cultural Development
- 9 semester hours in Symbolics of Information
- 24 semester hours in Science and Social Science
- 15 semester hours of electives from any discipline – applicable courses include Introduction to Philosophy, Music Literature, Elementary Statistics, World Geography, and Biology. Consult with your academic advisor before selecting any Upper Division courses as many require prerequisites.
No matter which pathway you choose to reach your educational goals, Campbellsville University is an excellent option for general studies. We are also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Our ASGS program is facilitated by a remarkable group of full-time and adjunct faculty, including Dr. Chris Conver, Dr. Rhonda Graf, Professor Dave Harrity, Dr. Dale Wilson, , and Dr. James Cobban.
