Work Ready KY Scholarship Program

Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education

Campbellsville University’s Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) equips graduates with a clear path to teaching preschool or kindergarten in the state of Kentucky, as well as the skills to become a certified Developmental Interventionist. Serving disabled children from birth to age three, a Developmental Interventionist provides relevant care and lends support to a child’s family. Held at the Louisville Education Center, our advanced curriculum equips students with skills needed to teach in the field, and the program is similarly designed to reflect a professional teaching environment.

The School of Education is also accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (formerly NCATE).

For our accelerated BS in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, admission requirements include an unofficial transcript (with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7), sufficient PRAXIS scores in Reading, Math, and Writing, a recommendation/evaluation from the department, and a personal essay. Students are required to pass a specialty exam and complete a supervised, yearlong internship to receive certification.

At the Louisville Education Center, continuing students can reach their educational goals in less time than a traditional university schedule. Our satellite center holds an accelerated program with rigorous classes that meet one night a week, Monday to Thursday. In addition to the IECE degree, the Education Center offers a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, where students can train to become a preschool, childcare center direct

No matter which pathway you choose to reach your teaching goals, Campbellsville University is an exceptional college for early childhood education. We are also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Our Education Center is facilitated by a phenomenal group of full-time and adjunct faculty, including Dr. Sharon Hundley, Dr. Marilyn Goodwin, and Dr. Chris Conver (Theology Professor and Admissions Counselor). We invite you to explore our BS in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education in more detail — thank you for visiting Campbellsville University’s Louisville Education Center.
