Campbellsville University Department of Theatre and Dance presents ‘Oleanna’

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Oleanna” by David Mamet at the Russ Mobley Theater, 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky., at 7 p.m., Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26.

The production’s synopsis said, “In this riveting drama, a college professor and his female student become embroiled in a war of words that takes a dangerous turn. As their serene campus transforms into a battleground for justice, Mamet’s explosive masterpiece dares you to take a side . . . if you can.”

The play is directed by Lauren Phillips, a senior from Campbellsville majoring in theater.

Eric Smith, director of Information Technology at Campbellsville University, and Lacy May, a 2012 graduate of Campbellsville University, star in the play. May double majored in theatre and mass communication. May is the daughter of Rhonda Vale, clinical/lab coordinator at Campbellsville University.

May has her Master’s in Educational Theater from New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. She holds teaching certifications for Theater, English Language Arts and Communications in Kentucky.

This play explores themes of coercion and sexual assault. Violence is depicted. It is recommended only for ages 15 and up.

General admission is $10. Campbellsville University students receive free admission with a student ID.
