CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University has had an all-time record giving year, and, for the first time in history, gifts during a fiscal year have exceeded $7 million, according to Dr. Michael V. Carter, president.
Campbellsville University concluded the 2005-06 fiscal year, which ended June 30, with gifts of $7,723,309. This amount surpasses the previous record of $6,946,400 from 2002-03 by $776,909 and last year’s gifts of $4,978,910 by $2,744.399.
“This record-breaking year is a testament to the increasing enthusiasm that trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, businesses, foundations and churches are recognizing the ongoing need for Campbellsville University to remain strong and vital for the coming generations of students. Financial support is a critical component to reaching that goal,” said Carter.
Campbellsville University received a $1 million Kresge Foundation grant, $250,000 from the VanLunen Foundation for the School of Nursing, $200,000 from the James Graham Brown Foundation for a new School of Education, and over $500,000 in gifts toward the Ransdell Chapel and completed the $35 million Centennial Campaign in February 2006, 17 months ahead of schedule.
“These were some of the significant gifts that allowed us to exceeding the $7 million mark, allowing the University to improve our facilities, increase our endowment and provide needed scholarship support for our students.” he said.
The CU Board of Trustees has extended the $35 million Centennial Campaign by a Phase II goal of $15 million additional funds. Since the implementation of the Phase II goal, gifts and pledges of $1,949,430 have been secured.
A cumulative total of $36,949,645 has been raised toward the $50 million goal, Carter said.
“It truly takes all of the CU family working together to achieve these major fundraising goals,” Dr. Alan G. Medders, vice president for development, said. “The impact of the gifts received this year will not only be felt by current students, faculty and staff, but for generations to come.
“We’re truly grateful for the tremendous support the university has received. As we move into our Centennial Celebration year, our goal is to continue this momentum and communicate the importance of investing in Christian higher education.
Campbellsville University had her highest enrollment ever in fall 2005 and also again in spring 2006. The completion of the E. Bruce Heilman Student Complex, the new School of Nursing building and the beginning of construction of the Ransdell Chapel, has all contributed to the best year of fundraising in the university’s history.
New academic programs including the new master in counseling and the nursing program, expanding the master’s of business administration to an online program, and creating the ACCEL evening degree program for adult learner, has also strengthened the academic offerings offered at Campbellsville University.
