Campbellsville University to Hear Christian Actor and Writer, Curt Cloninger, as Staley Lecture Series SpeakerAll programs are free and open to the public. The Staley Distinguished Christian Scholar Program is one of the projects of the Thomas F. Staley Foundation of New York. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Staley of New York established the lectureship in the fall of 1969 in memory of their parents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Staley and Judge and Mrs. H.H. Haynes of Bristol, Tenn. The Thomas F. Staley Foundation is firmly persuaded that the message of the Christian gospel, when proclaimed in its historical fullness, is always contemporary, relevant and meaningful to any generation. Cloninger uses his comic and dramatic skills to present theatrical entertainment which “moves people to see and feel the good news of God in fresh and creative ways,” according to his Web site, www.curtCloninger.com. For more than 20 years, Cloninger has performed thousands of times on college campuses, for churches, in theaters and for conferences all over North America. Cloninger is equally at home performing for large, national conferences or for small theater or retreat settings. Among the places he’s performed are in a basketball arena for 45,000 high school students, in a living room crammed full of adults and standing on top of a stool in the middle of a state college campus.

Cloninger is known for performances that have an intimate quality and will stir emotions and cause people to ask questions. Author and speaker Mike Yaconelli said of Cloninger, “Curt Cloninger is a soul-toucher, able to connect the soul of the audience with the soul of his characters. I leave Curt’s performances exhausted because of the emotions I have felt, and enpowered because of what I have learned about life and living.” For more information about Cloninger’s appearance at the Staley Lecture Series, contact Ed Pavy, director of Campbellsville University’s campus ministries at (270) 789-5227.
