CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Jennifer Tinnell, director of marching band and instructor of music at Campbellsville University, received the 2006 Non-Tenured Faculty Excellence Award during the CU Centennial campus kickoff chapel/convocation service Wednesday, Aug. 30.
“It is a joy to work at Campbellsville University and I love it,” said Tinnell after receiving the award.
Tinnell is also the praise team director of CU’s FIRST Class program and participates in the university orchestra and wind ensemble. She was the assistant director of bands at CU from 2001 to 2005.
She served as the assistant band director of Marion County High School from 1993 to 1994 and the MCHS band director from 1994 to 2001. The MCHS marching band won the state marching band competition under her direction in 1998.
Tinnell is a member of Kentucky Educators National Conference, Kentucky Music Educators Association and Phi Beta Mu.
She is a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church and participates in the choir and praise team.
Tinnell was named “Up and Coming Teaching” by the Kentucky Music Educators Association in 2001.
Tinnell is a 1987 graduate of Metcalfe County High School. She received her bachelor of music education degree in 1993 from Campbellsville College and her master of music education degree from Campbellsville University in 2001.
While a student at Campbellsville, she received the senior music and talent awards.
She is the daughter of Dave and Catherine Tinnell of Edmonton, Ky.
