CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Looking for a fun, educational experience for your child this summer?
Campbellsville University’s Technology Training Center is in its fifth year holding “Kids College,” which provides fun, fellowship and learning for students going into grades three through eight in the 2008-09 school year.
Carol Sullivan, director of the technology center at CU, has organized Kids College, the second session of which will be July 21-24. The deadline to apply for the session is July 14.
A first session was June 23-26; and children who attended may return and attend the second session is they desire.
“It’s a program that gives children exposure to technology, art, science and fun things like cooking and crafting,” Sullivan said.
Each session is Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with a 15-minute break with refreshments.
Students can choose two classes. The first is from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The second is from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The class choices include “You’re the Cook,” “Mad About Science,” “PowerPoint with Pizzazz,” “No Girls Allowed,” and “No Boys Allowed.”
Sullivan said the courses are taught by instructors and experts in the different fields.
“We try to keep the groups small so the children can have a little more individualized attention,” Sullivan said.
“You’re the Cook” is taught by Tanya Massengale, and “Mad about Science” is taught by Holly Davis. “PowerPoint with Pizzazz” is taught by Susie Crowder.
“No Girls Allowed” is taught by Daran Kennon, who is employed at the Tech Center, and “No Boys Allowed” is taught by Belinda Creech.
Tuition for each four day camp is $65, which covers the program including materials, kits, and a T-shirt.
