CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Tony Cunha, and the CU Handbell Choir, under the director of Rebecca Owens, will perform at First United Methodist Church Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m.
The chorale performs a wide variety of literature in a broad spectrum of musical styles, including accompanied and a cappella pieces and both sacred and secular selections. The 45-member ensemble will perform works by G.F. Handel, Felix Mendelssohn, Dan Forrest, Dave Brubeck, Rosephanye Powell, Mark Hayes, Ralph Manuel, Tom Fettke, John Ness Beck, Alice Parker and Tim Sarsany.

Cunha joined the faculty of Campbellsville University in January 2007. He is the coordinator of the church music program and associate dean of the School of Music. In addition to directing the University Chorale, he directs a contemporary ensemble (New Doxology) and teaches courses in church music and conducting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Baptist Church Music Conference, the Central Kentucky Arts Series, and the College Music Society.
This is Rebecca Owens’ first year as director of the Handbell Choir, upon the retirement of Nevalyn Moore.
Campbellsville University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is approved by the Kentucky Department of Education for teacher education and certification. The School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
Students of the School of Music may choose from several programs of study leading to degrees in music. The bachelor of music degree with an area in church music prepares students for music ministry in churches. For those desiring teacher certification to teach music in public schools, the bachelor of music degree with an area in music education is available.
Another option is the bachelor of arts degree with an area in music. A minor in music or church music also is available. At the graduate level, the School of Music offers master of music degrees in music education, church music, piano pedagogy, musicology, conducting, performance (voice, piano, organ, instrumental) and a master of arts in music.
