CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Italian pianist Matteo Andreini, who is on tour in the United States for concerts in Missouri and Kentucky, will perform at Campbellsville University Monday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall.
He will be performing solo piano works by J.S. Bach, Busoni, Gambini and Liszt.
The performance is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Andreini is piano professor at the State Music Institute “P. Giannetti” in Grosseto where he has also collaborated in 2002 and 2003 with the city’s opera seasons. He is also founder and director of the “Guido d’Arezzo” Symphonic Orchestra.
In 2008, Andreini was called to serve as pianist at the “Tuscan Sun Festival” in Cortona, Italy.
In 2006 and 2007, Andreini served as accompanist at the State Institute “R. Franci” in Siena within classes held by Professor Paolo Miccichè, participating in the staging of Mozart’s opera “Bastien und Bastienne” organized by the Institute and performed in Florence and Ravenna during the Ravenna Festival.
Andreini was born in Arezzo Italy in 1969 and began studying piano at a very young age under the guidance of Professor Itala Balestri Del Corona.
As a student of Maestro Orazio Frugoni, Andreini obtained his diploma with honors from the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome. He then specialized further working with Maestros Riccardo Risaliti, Aldo Ciccolini and Massimiliano Damerini in piano and with Maestros Danilo Rossi and Cristiano Rossi for chamber music.
Andreini has won many first prizes in Italian piano competitions including Città di Pistoia, “A. Bacchelli” in Florence, “G. Rospigliosi” in Lamporecchio, Saludecio, Camaiore, Città di Grosseto, “Civitas Liburni” in Livorno, “B. Campagnoli” in Cento, Terme di Saturnia, Castiglion Fiorentino and Follonica.
Andreini began his concert career performing for important concert associations in Arezzo, Florence (Lyceum, Conservatorio “Cherubini,” Orsanmichele,) Siena (Sala del Mappamondo,) Pisa (Teatro Verdi,) Grosseto (Teatro degli Industri,) Pistoia (Circolo Pio X,) Montecatini Terme, Lucca, Massa Carrara (Palazzo Ducale,) Piombino, Città di Castello (Amici del Festival delle Nazioni,) Rome (Discoteca di Stato,) Viterbo, Macerata, Potenza, Alessandria, Asti, Aosta, Cento (Teatro “Borgatti”,) Stresa, Milan, Venice, Como, Trento, Verona, Perugia, Salerno, and Catania (Lyceum.)
In 2000, Andreini performed with baritone Claudio Del Tin in a series of concerts in Germany. Six years later, he was invited to play in various Swiss cities and in Salzburg, Austria, where he performed in setting of the Archbishop’s Palace.
Andreini has appeared as soloist with various orchestras including the “Guido d’Arezzo” and “Città di Grosseto” Symphonic Orchestras, the Lecco Lyrical-Symphonic Orchestra, the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Craiova “Oltenia”, Bacau “Mihai Jora” and Vidin Philharmonic Orchestras.
In 1998 and 1999, Andreini attended a specialization course for orchestra professionals held in Milan at the Scala Theatre. During the course, he participated in the staging of Strauss’s opera La Donna Senz’Ombra, directed by Maestro Giuseppe Sinopoli with the Scala Theatre Orchestra.
Andreini has collaborated with orchestra directors including Lorenzo Castriota Skanderbeg, Paolo Biancalana, Carlo Moreno Volpini, Roberto Gianola, Ovidiu Balan, Franz Anton Krager, Francesco Seri, and Mario Rorunda; with violinist Francesco Fidel; with accordionist Alessandro Moretti; with the Soloists of the Teatro Regio of Turin; with sopranos Eva Mei, Alessandra Rossi Trusendi, Luz de l’Alba Rubio, and Anastasia Tomacewska; and with baritone Mario Cassi.
